Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Hey Cameraman ("we," "our," or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Hey Cameraman mobile application.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Hey Cameraman is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal information necessary for the App to function.

A) Information We Do NOT Collect:

  • We do NOT collect personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
  • We do NOT collect location data
  • We do NOT collect usage analytics or behavioral data
  • We do NOT use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
  • We do NOT require user accounts or sign-in
  • We do NOT store or transmit voice recordings to any server
  • We do NOT access your contacts, calendar, or other personal data

B) Information Processed Locally On Your Device:

Voice/Audio Data: The App uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to process voice commands. All speech recognition is performed on-device when supported by your hardware. Audio data is processed in real-time and is NOT recorded, stored, or transmitted to any external server. The App only extracts text commands from your speech and immediately discards the audio.

Gesture/Camera Data: The App uses Apple's Vision framework to process hand gestures. Camera frames are processed in real-time on-device to detect specific hand positions (e.g., index finger up, open palm). This visual data is processed locally and is NOT recorded, stored, or transmitted to any external server. The App only extracts command triggers from your gestures and immediately discards the frames.

Camera Capture: The App accesses your device camera to capture photos and record videos. All captured media is saved directly to your device's Photo Library. We do not access, copy, or transmit your photos or videos.

Photo Library: The App reads your Photo Library to display your most recent photos and videos in the in-app gallery. This access is read-only for display purposes and write-only for saving new captures.

C) Purchase Information:

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details or billing information. We may receive and use information regarding your App Store transaction or subscription status solely for the purpose of unlocking and providing access to premium App features.

D) Local Preferences:

The App stores your settings and preferences (such as voice feedback toggle, free tier usage counts, and purchase status) locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.

2. How We Use Information

All data processing occurs locally on your device for the following purposes:

  • Voice Command Recognition: To detect and execute voice commands such as "take a photo," "start recording," "zoom in," etc.
  • Gesture Recognition: To detect and execute commands via hand gestures such as starting/stopping recording or taking photos.
  • Photo/Video Capture: To capture photos and videos using your device camera and save them to your Photo Library.
  • Gallery Display: To show your recent photos and videos within the in-app gallery for review, sharing, and deletion.
  • App Preferences: To remember your settings between app sessions.
  • Purchase Verification: To verify whether you have purchased the Pro upgrade and unlock corresponding features.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do NOT share, sell, rent, or disclose any user data to third parties.

The App does not contain:

  • Third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Third-party advertising (no ad networks)
  • Third-party tracking (no Facebook SDK, no attribution tools)
  • Social media integrations that transmit data

The only network communication the App makes is with Apple's servers for:

  • In-app purchase processing (via StoreKit)
  • On-device speech recognition model updates (managed by iOS, not the App)

These communications are handled entirely by Apple's frameworks and are subject to Apple's own privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • All data remains on your device. Nothing is transmitted to external servers.
  • Photos and videos are stored in your device's Photo Library, protected by iOS security measures.
  • App preferences are stored in the app's local sandbox using UserDefaults, protected by iOS app sandboxing.
  • We do not operate any servers, databases, or cloud storage.

5. Device Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:

CAMERA: Used to capture photos, record videos, and detect hand gestures for hands-free control. The camera feed is processed in real-time on-device; visual data used for gesture detection is not recorded or transmitted.

MICROPHONE: Used for two purposes: (1) to listen for voice commands via speech recognition, and (2) to record audio as part of video captures. Audio is processed in real-time and is not stored separately from your intentional video recordings.

SPEECH RECOGNITION: Used to convert your spoken words into text for voice command detection. Processing occurs on-device when supported. Audio is not stored or transmitted to external servers by the App.

PHOTO LIBRARY: Used to save your captured photos and videos, and to display recent items in the in-app gallery for review.

All permissions are optional. If you deny a permission, the corresponding feature will be unavailable, but the App will inform you and provide a link to Settings to enable it.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, there is no risk of children's data being collected.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App or on our App Store listing. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
